Musician Spotlight: Kassie Jordan

Meet Kassie Jordan, an accomplished singer from Lancaster, SC who's currently on tour (click here for tour dates). Kassie attended Buford High School and has been the recipient of many awards: David Frizzell School of Music (1994), Star Search Winner (1995), International Country Music Expo (Most Promising Vocalist), The Great American Gospel Festival (3rd place National Winner), Jimmy Dean Country Music Showdown (Regional Winner), Southeastern Talent Showcase (Talent Winner, 1st place).

Describe your style of music: The music on my MySpace profile is a little more "poppy" than my newer stuff (which should be up in a month or so). My style now is more rockin' country.

Who are your influences/inspirations? Patty Griffin is my favorite singer/songwriter. Other favorites are Patsy Cline, Bonnie Raitt, Ryan Adams, Mindy Smith, Sheryl Crow, Jeff Buckley, Roy Orbison... and more.

What was your musical start? My mom says I came out singing. She noticed I could carry a tune at a really young age, so she bought me a karaoke machine. It was all over then, haha. I won Star Search when I was 11 and ever since then singing is what I'm about!

How does performing in front of a crowd feel? I LOVE attention so performing is definitely a high for me. I feed off the crowd a lot and I love to get the crowd up and rockin.

Being on the road can be stressful, what do you do to relax? I love naps. Probably more than I should. I think it's because in my line of work I don't get much sleep at all! So whenever I have time to relax and take a good ol' nap, I take advantage of that for sure! I also like to act like I have my own reality show and make funny videos with my friends, haha. Our own version of Jackass, if you will. Kinda weird, but definitely entertaining for us and it gets our mind off everything!

Where can we find your music? Right now, I just have the songs on my MySpace page... new music is coming soon and will be available on iTunes!

Any other fun facts? I just saved a bunch of money on my car insurance by switching to Geico!
