Musician Spotlight: HOT DAMN

This installment of 'Musician Spotlight' brings you the Lancaster area band, 'HOT DAMN'. Update: the band has dissolved, but this post will remain for posterity.

Describe your sound: We strive to create great rock & roll music with lots of energy! Our influences are Black Crowes, Pantera, Black Stone Cherry, Black Label Society, Dream Theater, The Showdown, Led Zeppelin, AC/DC.

How long have you been together? and what's the significance of the name HOT DAMN? The band was formed on February 17th 2008 by Neal, Kevin, & Chase... soon after, Derek joined and we've been playing ever since. As for the significance of our name, we were sitting around and were joking and said 'HOT DAMN' and everybody thought it would be a great band name... so we used it!


Is there any particular song that your band is known for? Our Maylene cover of "Caution: Dangerous Curves Ahead" and our original "Say Your Prayers"

What's in the works? We're working on new material and hope to record an EP by early to mid-2009... as of now, there's no release date. In the coming year, HOT DAMN will be kicking it with a vengeance, bringing you the searing riffs, blistering vocals, sweltering bass runs, and thunderous beats that will put hair on your chest (if needed) – with a few surprises!

How do people find out when you'll be playing? All of our upcoming performances are posted at myspace.com/hotdamnpage

Any crazy band stories? One time our bass player was sitting on the hood of a truck and our singer jumped in the truck and floored it, driving down the road with Derek on the hood. And the owner of the truck was inside – completely clueless of what had happened.

Anything else we should know? The ultimate purpose of what we do is take the politics out of music and restore passion into the music that we love. So many bands get caught up in what other people want, or what people think, and they lose sight of the sheer pleasure and passion of what fuels the fire for their music. Our goal is to have A** KICKING rock n’ roll in your face. We Are HOT DAMN !!!
