A mural by Columbia, SC artist Ralph Waldrop provides a backdrop to a small park on the corner of South Main and East Arch streets in downtown Lancaster, SC. The park was established in 1976 as a U. S. Bicentennial project. Local volunteers helped with the mural, which features actual Lancaster residents walking forward together.
Civil War Significance: In February of 1865, Union General Judson Kilpatrick made his headquarters on this site while occupying Lancaster during the War Between the States.
